A memorial service for Gil Scott-Heron, the musician and poet who passed away last Friday, has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today at Riverside Church in New York City.
A public viewing will be held from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday as well. The viewing will take place at New York‘s Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel on 81st Street and Madison Avenue.
Scott-Heron’s cause of death remains unknown, but Associated Press reports that he became ill after returning from a trip to Europe.
