CHESTERLAND, OH (WOIO) –

The National Weather Service confirmed that an F-1 tornado touched down in Geauga County during Wednesday evening’s severe weather.

The tornado touched down in the Chesterland, Ohio causing severe damage to homes and businesses. Giant Eagle grocery store sustained massive damage. The store had to bring in refrigeration trucks to try and salvage inventory damaged from the storm.

Back in Cuyahoga County, most of the damage was reported on the west side near W. 59th and Detroit.

Hundreds of trees came crashing down causing road closures and power outages. The hardest hit area in Cuyahoga County was the City of Cleveland reporting 10,000 customers without power as of 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
