ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) –

A Lorain County Commissioner was bit by a dog during Wednesday morning’s meeting.

Commissioner Ted Kalo was bit in the arm by the dog. His skin was not broken, but his suit was torn.

The dog was at the meeting as part of a program with the Lorain County Dog Kennel. Each week, a dog up for adoption is featured in a special segment.

The Commissioners and the dog kennel have been doing this for six years, and the program is very successful.

The dog that bit the Commissioner is currently recovering from surgery. He had been found lying on the side of the road after being hit by a car.

Kennel workers believe Kalo just startled the dog, because he came out of a swinging door, that made a strange sound.

The dog will remain at the kennel awhile longer, before being put up for adoption again.
