CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Water main breaks are pretty routine during winter months in Cleveland, but the season may be starting early this year.

A break on Superior is slowing traffic and stopping water flow.

The street torn up for two days now as crews search for a break in a 10-inch main. This is the second of two breaks. One was fixed Sunday, but after the water was turned back on the second main broke and water stopped at places like the kitchen St. John Cathedral.

Sister Kenneth’s job just got a lot tougher, with only bottled water to run a big kitchen. Outside, there is water water everywhere. Inside, there is not a drop to drink. It forced Alberto Naphtali to take his shaving gear and a towel elsewhere to bathe. It also slowed his job maintaining the cathedral.

“Clean floors, difficult to do anything without water in the church. 90% of the things we clear is with water,” said Naphtali. “Wash the Priests clothes other clothes you can’t do that.”

With large crowds attending Masses Tuesday because of All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation, not having rest rooms open is a not so welcome surprise.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea for the faithful at St. John Cathedral to pray to St. John Nepomucene, as he is the Patron saint of running water.
