EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio – The 17-year-old boy police were looking to question in the shooting death of another teenager in East Cleveland last week has been taken into custody.

Police located Dewon Lee in Maple Heights Friday. Officers said he was hiding out with friends, all of whom are younger than 18 years old.

Investigators said they believe Lee could have information about the murder of 17-year-old Demitri Mayers last Thursday night in the 14700 block of Elderwood Avenue. Police said the shooting was the result of an argument between the two over clothing Lee had borrowed.

Police named Lee a ‘person of interest’ in the murder earlier this week and asked for the public’s help to locate him.

Lee was supposed to be on house arrest following a home invasion. His mother told police that Lee cut off his ankle bracelet and had not been seen since.

Lee has not been charged yet in the shooting. Police were taking him back to the East Cleveland Police Department for questioning.
