Sasha and Malia may not be able to start their own Facebook pages, but First Lady Michelle Obama joined Twitter, with the introductory tweet: ”We’re excited today to launch @michelleobama as a new way for you to connect with First Lady Michelle Obama and the President’s campaign.”
The second tweet tells us to look out for the “-mo” signature to differentiate the first lady’s messages from those of the campaign staff.
She gained more than 116,000 followers in the first five hours, but that’s a long way from one of the five her account is following: her husband, President Barack Obama, who has 11.8 million followers; or, the White House, which has about 2.6 million.
