MOGADORE, Ohio – Newell Rubbermaid will be adding nearly 140 full-time jobs and investing more than $25 million in its Rubbermaid manufacturing facility on Gilchrist Road in Mogadore.

The investment includes buying new machines, as well as improving infrastructure.

“I am excited at the opportunity this expansion represents for the Village of Mogadore and Summit County, in particular the number of new jobs this project will bring to our area,” stated Russ Pry, Summit County Executive. “We will continue to make job creation and economic development a priority in Summit County, and we will continue to work with our partners to enhance economic opportunity in the region.”

The Job Retention Tax Credit was a major factor in the investment. The State of Ohio was in competition with Kansas for this major project.

“Rubbermaid has a long history of investing in Ohio and we appreciate the strong partnership we have with Ohio, Summit County and the people of Mogadore,” said J.B. Broadous in a news release, Director of Operations for Newell Rubbermaid Mogadore. “Together with our dedicated employees, we are proud to continue to offer our consumers innovative and quality products made in the USA.”

“Newell Rubbermaid’s investment in Mogadore is yet another example of a Fortune 500 company that has reinvested in our community over the past year,” stated Rick Rebadow, Executive Vice President for the Greater Akron Chamber. “Their commitment to maintain and create manufacturing jobs is a strong testimonial to the business climate that both the public and private sectors have cultivated on a regional scale.”

Newell Rubbermaid currently employs approximately 1,400 employees in Ohio, including 700 in Mogadore, with operations also in Fairlawn and Perrysburg, near Toledo.
