The holiday season offers feelings of happiness, Christmas parties, and family togetherness, but all of this can be tough for anyone who is single. Being single during the holiday season can present it own obstacles, but can also be a great time of the year to be single. Surviving the holidays while being single can be a great time for self-improvement and serious New Year’s resolutions. This article will provide some tips for anyone who is single during the holiday season.

1. Workout

Many of us tend to gain weight during the holiday season due to the extra ordinary amount of food consumed; however, going to the gym and working out is not only a good way to meet other singles, but will also get you in shape for future dating opportunities.

2. Embrace a hobby

Do you enjoy writing, knitting, running, or stock trading? Hobbies are a great way to get your mind off being single during the holidays, and are a great way to find happiness on your own.

3. Go on a date

Do think you are the only one single during the holiday season? Think again. There are plenty of other singles available during the holiday season that would love to go on a date during one of the most romantic times of the year. Dates such as skiing, sleigh rides, and romantic dinners are a great way to get close to someone new this year.

4. Get serious about your New Year’s resolution

Most of us do not keep our New Year’s resolution past the first week after New Year’s, but staying single will give you extra time to focus on you. If you really want to lose 20lbs this year, I suggest working towards the goal early and building up self-confidence. Once you complete your resolution, you will have a new feeling of self-confidence that will help you land a date in the near future.

5. Take time for yourself

Your friends may be attending 20 Christmas parties this year while you are stuck in your home wondering what to do. Take time for yourself to reflect on why you are single this holiday season, and what you want to do to improve yourself. Take time to get to know who you are without someone else influencing your thoughts or decisions. Christmas parties are not really that much fun anyway!

6. Be flirtatious

Going to a holiday party single can be a daunting task, but remember that there are other singles at that party looking to meet someone. Instead of being cynical, you can be flirtatious and friendly, which will not only make the party easier, but may even land you a date!
