CLEVELAND – Cleveland Police are investigating an overnight shooting and potential robbery.

Authorities said it happened at about 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning when a man was shot at 143rd and  Edgewood on the city’s east side.

Police blocked off an area just down the street, where the man was apparently found.

According to a police sergeant, the shooting happened during an alleged robbery. Police aren’t sure if it was a car jacking but there was a lot of broken glass at the scene so it’s possible the man was shot in a car or near a vehicle.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the man shot was the victim and not an alleged robber but police aren’t releasing any suspect description or vehicle information at this point.

They said the man who was shot was taken to Metro Medical Center overnight where he is in stable condition.
