STARK COUNTY, OH (WOIO) –

Louisville Police say an African-American student is dealing with a pattern of what looks like racist acts.

“The allegation is that somebody removed four or five lug nuts from the vehicle that was driven by the victim.”

18 year old Joshua Rouse, a Stark County student, had been getting racist taunts over the last six months.  Rouse and his family believe the lug nuts were tampered with at the high school.

“While the vehicle was being driven the tire actually came off the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash.”

Joshua’s father was driving.

“At this point we have it reported as a criminal damaging and ethnic intimidation specification.”

But a few months back, Joshua said a fellow student made a noose and handed it to him saying I’ve made something for you.  That upset him but nothing like sabotaging his family’s car.

“If you take steps to cause a tire to come off a car while it’s in motion that you not only risk the driver of the car but other drivers as well as pedestrians. So yes, it’s very clearly a serious allegation.”
