CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

For five years, a crossing guard stood on the corner of E. 59th and Mound.  All the kids and parents knew her as their school crossing guard.

Then, back in January she told a parent to watch her mouth, and what happened next left the 64-year-old mother and grandmother wounded on the ground.

“I said, watch your mouth,” the victim tells us.

Tia Smith, 28 and Deonte Williams, 32 are now facing kidnapping and assault charges.

The victim told us she suffered a concussion in the attack.

But what hurt even more is what happened next. She says her boss from the Cleveland Police told her if she didn’t retire, she would be fired.

“They said I shouldn’t have said anything but who wouldn’t tell someone to not swear in front of the kids.”

We called Cleveland Police for their side of the story, but so far, no answer.

As for the suspects, they’ll be in court Monday morning for pre-trial hearings.
