The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame paid tribute to the gospel roots of rock ‘n’ roll when honoring Kirk Franklin for the Rock My Soul at State Theatre in Cleveland, OH. The seven-time Grammy award winner along with special performances by his dear friends, Fred Hammond and Donnie McClurkin and other local choir acts packed the house at the theatre Tuesday night.

The free concert called “Rock My Soul” is part of the festivities for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Week.

“Gospel music was the baseline for all African-American music,” said Howard Kramer, curatorial director for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Stay tuned for video performances from the star studded evening.Check out the photos below.
