Bobby Brown’s tell-all book about Whitney Houston could sit on bookshelves a few feet away from one authored by Cissy Houston, the iconic singer’s mother.

Cissy could receive a seven-figure sum for the book if she shares details about Whitney’s struggle with drugs and her sometimes-tumultuous marriage to Bobby. However, some publishers told the New York Daily News that Cissy seemed reluctant to discuss those topics.

While a seven-digit payoff would be motivation enough for many, Cissy said she really wants to protect her daughter’s name.

“There are so many lies out there and I want to dispel all of those lies,” Cissy reportedly told one publisher.

Whitney admittedly used illegal drugs during her career and the final autopsy report indicated that drugs were in her system when she drowned in a bathtub in February.

Although she wants to set the record straight about her one and only daughter, Cissy did tell one publisher she’d try to offer an honest look into Whitney’s life. “It’s going to be the bad. It’s going to be the good,” she said.

Bobby and Cissy aren’t the only two Whitney acquaintances who are considering writing books about the star. BeBe Winans has already signed a deal to pen The Whitney I Knew.
