STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) –

The lone survivor of a violent family shooting rampage at a Brooklyn Cracker Barrel restaurant remains in Hospice Care at Western Reserve this weekend.

According to Western Reserve, Kayla is ‘alive and comfortable’ Sunday evening.

Kayla Allen, 10, has been fighting for her life since the April 12 shooting. On Friday, May 11th, her family moved her from Metrohealth Medical Center to Hospice Care at Western Reserve.

Kayla, her sister Kerri, 10, and mother Katherina were dining at the Cracker Barrel with their father Kevin Allen for Kerri’s birthday when their father snapped after hearing his marriage was over.

Kevin left the restaurant and went to his vehicle where he grabbed his gun and returned to the restaurant, opening fire on his two kids and wife.

Kerri and Katherina were pronounced dead on scene. Kayla was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. Kevin Allen was gunned down by Brooklyn Police.

Ever since the Strongsville family’s shooting, community members established numerous events to help cover Kayla’ medical expenses.

Friday, May 11, Kayla’s remaining family members released the following statement:

“Kayla has taken a turn for the worse and has been released from MetroHealth Medical Center to the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve. We would like to thank the community for their continued support, as well as the staff at MetroHealth for the wonderful care they have provided to Kayla and our family during this difficult time.”
