CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon met with parishioners Wednesday several of the 12 closed churches to address a reopening plan.

There is still no timetable for the reopening, but parishioners are very pleased about meeting with the Bishop.

Bishop Lennon met with people who attended two of the closed churches on Wednesday afternoon, including a 3 p.m. meeting with parishioners from Saint James. Parishioners will gather at Bishop Lennon’s office and talk about their expectations for when their church opens.

All 12 were shut down two years ago by the Bishop, but the Vatican recently overturned that decision and said they could reopen after people from the congregations appealed to Rome.

While major decisions on staffing and other matters have yet to be made, Lennon said he will carry out the directives from the Congregation for the Clergy regarding the following parishes:

Akron: St. Mary and St. John the Baptist Parishes

Bedford: St. Mary Parish

Cleveland: St. Adalbert, St. Barbara, St. Casimir, St. Emeric, St. Patrick, St. Peter and St. Wendelin Parishes

Lakewood: St. James Parish

Lorain: St. Mary Parish
