The Billboard Awards tonight produced a few moments but none was as anticipated at the Whitney Houston tribute. John Legend took to the stage to perform, ‘The Greatest Love Of All’ followed by Jordin Sparks who performed a very beautiful rendition of ‘I Will Always Love You’ accompanied by a full orchestra. Jordin was honored to sing the tribute since she grew close to Whitney while filming the remake of ‘Sparkle’.
The performance brought Bobbi Kristina to tears and she later took to the stage to accept the Millennium Award on behalf of her mother along with her aunt Pat Houston.
I just really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all, not just from when it was good, but when it was bad, to just everything. Thank you so much for showing that much love, because she deserved it. I’m just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman’s life. There will never be another one, ever.
This is only the second year that Billboard has awarded an artist with ‘The Millennium Award’ for their achievements and influence in the music industry. The first was given to Beyonce
