UPDATE: As of 401 p.m., a rep for Evelyn Lozada confirms to The Huffington Post that Evelyn has filed for divorce from Chad Ochocinco.

On Saturday, Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson (AKA Chad Ochocinco) was arrested on a domestic violence charge, accused of head-butting his newlywed wife (“Basketball Wives” star) Evelyn Lozada during an argument in front of their home outside Miami.

Three days later, Evelyn has finally released an official statement about the incident.

“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday,” the reality star wrote in an email via her publicist. “I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time,” she wrote.

The official statement comes just one day after VH1 announced it was pulling Chad and Evelyn’s new reality show, “Ev and Ocho,” from its fall schedule (the reality series — a spin-off of “Basketball Wives,” — was slated to premiere on September 3rd).

“Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it,” the network said in a statement Monday.

According to The New York Times, eleven episodes about the couple’s engagement and wedding were taped this year, including a two-part season finale.

In other bad news for Ochocinco, the Dolphins terminated his contract Sunday night, 24 hours after his arrest.

According to People.com, Lozada was treated for a “pretty good sized” laceration at a nearby hospital in Davie, Florida on Saturday night.

The Associated Press reports that the head-butting incident — which happened Saturday after Lozada found a receipt for a box of condoms in her Miami Dolphins wide receiver husband’s car — took place in front of the couple’s home.

Evelyn and Chad got married last month in Miami.

It has been a tough week for the Lozada family. On Monday night, Lozada’s brother-in-law Anthony Ochoa passed away following a long battle with cancer.

Evelyn dedicated a message to Anthony on her website this afternoon. “I can’t put into words how much you meant to us and your life was taken far too soon,” she wrote. “I promise to take care of my sister Sylvia and your beautiful girls Mia and Nisa. Thank you for having the strength to keep your promise to me and you will forever be our angel and in our hearts. We love you.”

UPDATE: Radaronline is now reporting that a Boston woman claims she had a heated affair with the former New England Patriots player.

Beverly Shiner, 30, says she dated Johnson from January until May this year, while Evelyn was planning the couple’s wedding–and she claims that Ocho didn’t even try to hide his deceit. She said their relationship went on for three months.
