*As you no doubt already know, today – Aug. 29 – would have been Michael Jackson‘s 54th birthday.

With that in mind it’s fitting that Spike Lee’s “Bad 25″ documentary has found a home … on ABC.

On Thanksgiving Day, the network will air Lee’s in-depth look at the making of “Bad” and its impact 25 years later.

If you’re wondering if the content is stuff he pulled from concert footage like in “This Is It,” nope, that’s not the case. According to Idolator, Lee worked with Jackson’s estate and Legacy/Epic Records to use archived footage that the public has never seen. He also interviewed choreographers and collaborators who worked side-by-side with Jackson, as well as today’s artists who were inspired by MJ, including Kanye West and Mariah Carey.

Before it appears on TV, the documentary will be screened  at the Venice Film Festival this Friday, August 31 as well as the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Meanwhile, the massive four-disc 25th anniversary edition of “Bad” is set for release on September 17. It will include a “Bad” tour concert DVD, new remixes and unreleased recordings.
