CLEVELAND – Thousands of men in Cuyahoga County are expected to take part in the annual “Father’s Walk” Thursday.

They’ll wake their children, make breakfast, check their book bags and then take them to school.

The walk is an effort to encourage fathers to get involved in their children’s lives. Research shows children whose fathers take an active role in their education earn better grades, test scores, enjoy school more and are more likely to attend college.

Additionally, children have fewer behavior problems when fathers speak and listen to their children regularly.

Fathers, grandfathers, foster fathers, step-fathers, uncles, cousins, big brothers, significant male caregivers and friends of the family can all participate in “ The Fathers Walk .
