President Obama will sit down with Mitt Romney today at a private lunch meeting at the White House, spokesman Jay Carney announced today. “It will be the first opportunity they have had to visit since the election,” Carney said, according to Politico.

The meeting will take place in the White House’s private dining room, and no media will be allowed to cover it.

The meeting appears to be an attempt by Obama to make good on something he said in his victory speech on election night. “I also look forward to sitting down with Governor Romney to talk about where we can work together to move this country forward,” he said at the time.

A number of pundits have suggested that Romney would make a bold Cabinet choice. Romney is also supposed to huddle with Paul Ryan, tweets Philip Rucker of the Washington Post.
