A Pennsylvania man accused of pouring perfume on his girlfriend and setting her on fire in an apparent domestic dispute was arrested this weekend.

Springdale police said 22-year-old Maria Redman was burned on more than 30 percent of her body when 27-year-old Clinton Cohen threw perfume on her and then lit her on fire with a cigarette lighter. Cohen then threw a blanket at Redman and walked out of the apartment.

According to police, the couple’s infant daughter was at home in a crib when the incident occurred. “It was a verbal domestic dispute and he began choking her, then punched her,” Lt. Jeff Korczyk told WPXI. “Cohen then opened a bottle of perfume, poured it over the victim and lit it with a cigarette lighter.”

Korczyk said the daughter had some blood spatter on her from her mother. Officials said Redman remains in the hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Cohen has been charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of children.
