Westbound lanes of Interstate 90 are now back open between East 260th Street and East 152nd Street following a weekend crash that shut the highway down.

According to ODOT, crews completed all removal and cleanup operations on both I-90 eastbound and westbound early Monday morning.

A delay in bridge dismantling will stall the opening of Interstate 90 for another day in Cleveland.

The Ohio Department of Transportation had to bring in another crane to secure the damaged pedestrian bridge after experiencing unsafe conditions.

ODOT update 9:30 p.m.:

I-90 eastbound between East 152nd Street and East 260th Street is now OPEN!

Clean-up is still underway on I-90 westbound and ODOT expects this section to open around 2 a.m. Monday.

Motorists should continue to follow the westbound detour and use alternate routes for evening travel.

Another update will be sent when more information is available.

Crews have now move over to the westbound side to remove the bridge over those lanes.

ODOT still anticipates being able to have the entire freeway open by Monday morning. Should any scattered rain showers pass through today, work will not stop.

For now, I-90 east and westbound are still closed between East 152nd Street and East 260th Street. Detours are as follows:

– I-90 eastbound exit at East 152nd Street to St. Clair Avenue to Babbitt Road where motorists can make a right onto Lakeland Blvd and re-enter I-90 eastbound.

– Eastbound I-90 motorists: Exit I-90 east at East 152nd Street, travel north to Lakeshore, east on Lakeshore to East 222 and back to I-90 eastbound.

– I-90 westbound exit at East 260th Street to Babbitt Road to St. Clair Avenue to East 152nd Street to I-90 westbound.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, such as I-271 and I-480, to get from east to west and vice versa.

On Saturday, a truck’s trailer struck the pedestrian bridge above the highway around 6:45 a.m.

ODOT will give another update on the bridge dismantling progress around 5 p.m. Sunday.
