CLEVELAND – The brutal stabbing of a Cleveland Clinic nurse in downtown Cleveland Sunday was captured on surveillance video.

According to Dave Clark, the general manager of the Galleria at Erieview Mall, the mall’s cameras recorded the incident.

“We have provided information to the police and we will leave it to the police to decide what should be released to the public,” said Clark.

Cleveland police have not yet released any images from the video, nor has any suspect information been released.

Officers said 53-year-old Aliza Sherman was found at about 5:30 p.m. lying in a pool of blood on East 12th Street near the Galleria.

Someone came over to try to help and called 911. Sherman had also called 911, telling the dispatcher she had been attacked and needed help.

She was taken to the hospital, where she died a short time later.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office said Sherman died from multiple stab wounds. She was a mother of four.

Friends said she was downtown visiting her lawyer. They said she was in the middle of divorce proceedings from her estranged husband.
