CLEVELAND – The Cleveland bomb squad responded to the city’s east side after a suspicious pipe was found in the road.

The object was discovered on East 175th near South Miles Road, just after 2 p.m. Friday.

Police confirmed the bomb squad was called out to the scene. Officers at the scene indicated to news crews that there were caps on both sides of the pipe, making it seem like a possible pipe bomb.

Cleveland Division of Fire spokeman Larry Gray said the pipe appears to be about 9 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. It appears to have duct tape on the ends of it.

The bomb squad is deploying a robot to check out the device.
