CLEVELAND – Here are the names that have landed in Rumorville to be the next head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers just after Byron Scott was let go.

While Cavs fans would like to dream about Phil Jackson, the best bet for him to come to Cleveland is if Dan Gilbert buys Whitefish, Montana and moves it to northeast Ohio.

If Gilbert still like the green and white of Michigan State than Scott Skiles could be his man. Following in the line of “let’s go after a Michigan State guy” and help out the alumni fund.

Flip Saunders would have a short commute from his native Cuyahoga Heights to both the Cleveland Clinic Courts and the “Q.” He could save some serious gas money, compared to most coaches that like to live on the west side. Plus, according to Foxsportsohio’s Sam Amico, he’s tight with Gilbert. .

If you looking for a blast to the past, it sounded like Chris Grant was describing former head coach Mike Brown in his news conference on Thursday. He could look to the past again and bring back former Brown assistant coach Mike Malone. He’s an assistant at Golden State. How would that play into the “LeBron is coming back” conspiracy?

Stan and Jeff Van Gundy. Gilbert should hire both of them. We could have the first ever co-coach, brother combo in the history of the NBA. That would sell some tickets.

Other names in the mix  Brian Shaw,  Mo Cheeks, Jerry Sloan, Lawrence Frank and Melvin Hunt.
