CLEVELAND – Details about Cleveland’s West Shoreway shutdown in preparation for the filming of “Captain America” have been released.

The city of Cleveland said the full closure of the West Shoreway – known as Route 2 – will begin after midnight Thursday night into Friday morning, and will be entirely shut down by 5 a.m.

The road will be closed from East 9th Street downtown to Lake Avenue through June 14.

Drivers are urged to use either Detroit Avenue or Interstate 90.

Cleveland police will have officers directing traffic Friday morning, and will work to keep traffic moving at busy intersections.

The city has put parking bans in place on Detroit Avenue during rush hour periods.

Access to Edgewater Park, which is primarily via the Shoreway, will be allowed using West 49th Street off Detroit Avenue.

Film crews are expected to be filming a chase scene on the Shoreway for the movie “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The Marvel team has been shooting portions of a chase scene downtown for the last couple weeks. Those included explosions, gunfire and a crash.

More than 37,000 drivers use the West Shoreway on a daily basis.
