R&B Diva Kelly Price has always been open about her struggle with her weight.

Over the past decade, we’ve seen her weight fluctuate up and down and many of us can relate to her battle.

Now that she is 40 years old, she looks better than ever, but despite her extraordinary triumph, she says, people are still saying she’s fat.  But, instead of negative opinions holding her back, she now tells haters to ‘Take it or Leave it!’ because no matter what they say, she’s still here!

Unfortunately, many of her negative critics are industry executives and surprisingly enough, even other artists.  She revealed that many cruel things have been said about her over the years from her peers.

It’s sad that we live in a world where people think it’s o.k. to tear other people down.  But, in the end God had the last say and the future star of “R&B Divas L.A.” is still ‘Winning.’

During the taping of TV One’s “Verses & Flows,” EURweb associate Cherise (CNikky) Nicole spoke to Kelly about her struggles and triumphs with weight and how she’s learned to overcome.

On Her Struggles With Weight:

“I was always the fat girl.  It was super extra hard because we didn’t have a lot [growing up], so I didn’t dress fly. I didn’t have any of that stuff happening.  And then coming into this industry.  I was known for being talented but I was still the fat girl.  And it wasn’t what people were looking for.  There’s a lot that you hear. There’s a lot of cruelty out there.  Some of it comes from the executive offices.  It comes from other artists at times.  It was a very difficult thing to overcome.”

On The Industry’s Cruelty Towards People That Don’t Have Their Ideal Image:

“When I first came into the business, I had to, for the sake of being able to sell myself as an artist, always be happy and jovial and smiling.  I was the happy nice girl, and I am the happy nice girl, but I have my moments too.  But you kind of know that you can’t have a bad moment because you’re also the fat girl and you’re going to give them another reason to talk about you.”

On How She Overcame It All:

“I kind of had to come into my own and again it was the realization that I came from nothing, except for my foundation in faith and I’ve been given this great opportunity. And as far as I’m concerned, that happened because God let it happen.  There was no person whether they thought I was too fat, too black, too country, too ghetto, too New York, too thug or too whatever!  Nobody ultimately had the say over whether or not I was going to make it. So, again it falls back to my foundation in faith.  Sometimes I gotta look in the mirror and say, ‘Hey, there still saying you’re too fat, but you’re here! They gotta take it or leave it.’ And in most cases, if they leave it it’s all good because they don’t need to be in my space anyway.”

Love her!  So Inspirational! Look out for Kelly Price on Season 1 of R&B Divas Los Angeles, coming this fall to TV One!
