CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio – The city of Cleveland Heights has canceled the upcoming Coventry Family Arts Fair.

On Thursday, the city announced police were monitoring social media and canceling the fair was the “appropriate and responsible thing”. The event was scheduled for Sunday, July 21.

“We have a responsibility to never compromise the health, welfare and safety of our community. We also want to respect the Coventry commercial district and the surrounding neighborhoods.” said Mayor Edward J. Kelley.

Kelley also cited the “out of control behavior” at last weekend’s St. Gregory The Great Festival, adding that brawls will not be tolerated in Cleveland Heights.

The Coventry Family Arts Fair was canceled in 2012. In 2011, police arrested 16 teens for fighting and drinking after the fair, our news partners at Cleveland Heights Patch reported.
