EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the deaths of women whose bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags.

Michael Madison was arraigned in court Monday morning following a news conference announcing his charges and identifying one of his alleged victims.

He was charged with three counts each of murder and kidnapping. His bond was set at $6 million, $1 million for each count.

Madison was arrested Friday after a police standoff. He was classified as a sex offender in 2002.

The mayor of East Cleveland, Gary Norton, said Madison may have been influenced by convicted Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell.

Investigators found the bodies of 11 victims in Sowell’s Imperial Avenue home. He has been sentenced to death.
