CLEVELAND -The Cuyahoga County Land Bank is looking into the future of 2207 Seymour Avenue in Cleveland, the home where Ariel Castro is accused of holding three women hostage for nearly a decade.
A demolition inspector from the Land Bank visited the property Thursday, a day before a plea deal for Castro is expected to be announced.
He told Channel 3 News crews that the Land Bank does not own the neighboring, vacant properties but is looking into acquiring as much space as possible to be used for the benefit of the community. He mentioned the area’s future could be green space, or even a neighborhood park.
Channel 3 News saw him taking photos, which he said will help them access the area’s future use.
Castro’s house, now marked as city property, is expected to be demolished by the Land Bank. There’s no timeframe for how soon that could happen.
The home where mass killer, Anthony Sowell, killed 11 women was demolished in 2011 following his conviction.
