CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

In an effort to ramp up security, nearly a dozen security cameras have been installed on Cleveland’s southeast side along Warner Road.

10 wireless cameras, at a cost of $21,048, are now positioned along the largely commercial strip to foster a safer district for merchants, customers and residents.

The installation is an expansion of a program started by Councilman Zack Reed. He has now installed them at 161 spots.

“I am committed to taking every step possible to improve the safety of my community,” said Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed. “These cameras will provide an added layer of security to help deter threats, but to also help solve any incidents of criminal activity. We can no longer allow the acts of a few to weigh on this neighborhood as a whole.”

The cameras placed on Warner Road will allow for superior detail resolution using digital technology. Recorded footage will be observable in real-time and archived in the event a review is needed. Cameras were mounted on area telephone poles along Warner Road between Turney and Grand Division Avenue.
