The Cuyahoga Medical Examiner has positively identified the remains discovered near Interstate 90 and the Jennings Freeway last week as Christina Adkins, who went missing in 1995.

Adkins was 18 and pregnant when she went missing.

On Oct. 11, authorities searching for her discovered skeletal remains in the area of Interstate 90 and the Jennings Freeway.

Elias Acevedo, Sr. was charged with the murder Thursday, along with the murder of another woman, Pamela Pemberton, and raping and  kidnapping two other girls when they were as young as 8 and 11.

This morning NewsChannel5 reporter Kristin Volk got exclusive photos and video inside Acevedo’s former home, where authorities found underwear hidden in the ceiling Friday morning.

Acevedo was arrested on June 11 by members of a U.S. Marshals Task force in connection with a 1993 rape. DNA evidence obtained allegedly connected Acevedo to the cold case and he remains in the Cuyahoga County jail.

Acevedo’s 293-count indictment, filed Thursday, includes the aggravated murder of Pemberton in 1994 and of a previously unidentified woman – who authorities identified as Christina Adkins Friday – in 1995.

Vega’s home on Vega Avenue, which today stands vacant, was just a few doors down from Pamela Pemberton’s home.

Pemberton was killed and left naked in Tremont, near West 11th Street and Clark Avenue, not long before Christina Adkins, an 18-year-old who was five months pregnant, disappeared from the same area.

He’s also been charged with the rape and kidnapping of two girls when they were as young as 8 and 11, and, a few months ago, was charged in a 1993 rape case.

Acevedo is scheduled to be arraigned in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Monday at 8:30 a.m.
