CLEVELAND – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is responding to concerns after a gunman armed with a semi-automatic rifle opened fire at Los Angeles International Airport Friday, killing a Transportation Security Administration employee and wounding two other people.

Hopkins International Airport Director Ricky Smith released the following statement to the public:

“We’re deeply saddened by the events that took place at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this morning.  The safety and security of passengers as well as our employees is always a priority.  We will continue to take appropriate security measures to ensure the safety of anyone in our terminal.”
