CLEVELAND – The roadside signs and assorted advocacy efforts must have worked. All four special levies on Cleveland’s ballots were approved Tuesday .

Both the levies for Metroparks and the Cleveland Public Library passed by wide margins with more than 70 percent of the vote. The Port Authority levy —Issue 82—was approved with 65 percent of the vote.

The levy for Health and Human Services had a little harder time, but still passed 55 percent to 45 percent.

By passing two of the levies, voters passed a tax increase as the Metroparks levy will grow by 0.9 mill to 2.7 mills, and the levy for Health and Human Services will go up 1 mill to 3.9 mills.

Neither the library or port levies increase when their renewals kick in.

The Metroparks, port and health services levies were voted on in 1047 precincts countywide. The library levy was decided on in 337 precincts.
