2013 proved to be a windfall for Black male biopics – “Fruitvale Station,” “12 Years A Slave,” and “42″  all proved to be box office hits, as audiences flocked to theaters to experience the struggles and triumphs of some of history’s most iconic heroes.

Since next year’s Academy Awards is shaping up to make history with the most Black nominees, TheUrbanDaily.com  sat down with director Tyler Perry – promoting his latest feature “Madea’s Christmas” – and leading lady Tika Sumpter to get their predictions on which Black actors/actresses are worthy of an Oscar nod.

Perry and Sumpter also comment on the lack of Black female biopics and share which stories they’d like to bring to the big screen:
