For his MTV show, Charlamagne & Friends, Charlamagne Tha Godwent underground in NYC to see just how much regular folk off the street know about basic Black History Month, and the results made us shake our heads. You’d be downright shocked at how many people don’t know the faces of Malcolm X and Rosa Parks –  but show them a picture of Tyler Perry and its on!

When the TV host pulled out Malcolm X’s picture to see if people could identify him, a black man said it was “the original Tookie Williams,” referencing Stanley ‘Tookie” Williams who was one of the leaders of the Crips who was executed back in 2005.

Folks also had a hard time with Rosa Parks, and Condoleezza Rice…They actually thought she was Michelle Obama!

What an embarrassment to black culture.

This just goes to show how much work as a society we have to do in teaching folks about African-American culture.

And now…the video.
