Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has many of us wondering about her next major film role after “12 Years A Slave.” But, the star may have her sights on a starring role in a film adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s third novel “Americanah,” which snagged the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction this month.

Adiche, whose  TEDtalk “We should all be feminists“ was featured in part on Beyonce’s hit song “***Flawless” (which obviously means she’s her favorite writer ever),  was on Arise Entertainment 360 to discuss Hollywood’s sudden interest in showcasing more Black actors, and mentioned that “Americanah,” a story about a Nigerian woman moving back to Nigeria after spending years in America, may be coming to the big screen.

“I’m going to do the mysterious thing and say that Lupita might be making an announcement very soon,” Adiche teased during the interview. “I don’t know. That announcement might be about Americanah.”

If this is the case, 2014 will be a pretty busy year for Nyong’o. Reports are surfacing that she may be starring in the new “Star Wars” installment and, if it was up to a few of her fans, she could be taking Halle Berry’s iconic role as Storm in “X Men.” Whatever decision Lupita makes for her next film role, we’ll be watching!
