*The National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) is committed to excellence in education and conducts continuing education programs for nurses and allied health professionals throughout the year. The association also provides annual scholarships for students ranging from $1,000 – $6,000.

These scholarships provide funding for continuing education, and enables nurses to grow and better contribute their talents to the health and healthcare of our communities.

To apply, students must submit official transcripts, a two page written essay, two letters of recommendation, and a professional headshot. They should also submit proof of participation in student nurse activities, and proof of community service.

Applicants should also include a presentation of some ideas of what they can do as an individual nurse to improve the health status and/or social condition of African Americans, and a statement about their future goals in nursing.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
