YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown State University has named Jim Tressel president, its website states.

Tressel, Executive Vice President for Student Success at the University of Akron, was voted in unanimously by the university’s Board of Trustees, the school said.

Tressel resigned amid NCAA violations from a tattoo-parlor scandal that sullied the image of one of the country’s top football programs at Ohio State University in 2011. Tressel was head coach for ten years, and worked as coach at Youngstown State before that.

He also applied for the president position at the University of Akron, and the school announced Thursday that the position had been given to Scott Scarborough.
