*Monyetta Shaw was an unknown radio personality before meeting Ne-Yo and even after the two got together, she remained on the DL.
But since she is now starring on “Atlanta Exes,” she is opening up more about her relationship with Ne-Yo and how it failed.
Nevertheless, the ex-couple remain friends and, remarkably, she still lives with him. Shaw started with recounting how she met Ne-Yo while living in her hometown Shreveport, Louisiana working as a radio personality.
“I was in my hometown Shreveport, Louisiana. He was at a concert. A Jamie Foxx concert. I was just breaking up with a current boyfriend. And it’s funny because I was supposed to take him to the concert. But God has a good ol’ sense of humor and he knows what he is doing.”
She added, “So I was a radio personality in my hometown, and a mutual friend of mine told me that Ne-Yo was interested [in me]. This was after the concert and I was like ‘Oh whatever,’ I was still dealing with my ex but [Ne-Yo] kept calling. He was so persistent.”
When they broke up, she said it would not have been her choice to share the news via Instagram the way Ne-Yo did.
“I was shocked. We discussed him going to his publicist and making it known that way. However, he felt to do the latter part. Now it’s okay. But back then, I was a bit shocked.”
Nevertheless, she accepted he wasn’t ready for a steady relationship with her. She said, “He was honest enough to let me know that he wasn’t ready for monogamy at the time and you know, I couldn’t do anything but respect it.”
As for Crystal Renay, the model Ne-Yo is dating, Shaw hasn’t taken the time to think about it.
“I really don’t think much of it right now. When it gets serious, that’s when I will dedicate the time to think about it because we have two little kids so it’s kind of not just us. So that person has to be amazing because they’re little kids and they’re so impressionable.”
New girlfriend or not, it doesn’t seem like Shaw is going anywhere anytime soon. The mother of Ne-Yo’s two kids will always be in his life and in the meantime, they still live together too.
