CLEVELAND – ‘Early morning rapist’ suspect James Daniel III was charged with rape early Friday morning.

Cleveland police took him into custody at a home at W. 87th Street and Detroit Avenue in Cleveland on Thursday.

The man is suspected of raping a woman as she jogged early on the morning of Sept. 2 on Lake Avenue near W. 104th Street.

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office and CrimeStoppers had offered a $10,000 reward for help finding the man, and a local jogging group was raising money to add to the reward as well.

The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Daniel at his brother’s home at 1309 W. 87th Street in Cleveland at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

His brother was taken into custody and questioned but has not been charged. Prosecutor Tim McGinty said that the man has a criminal record and is “being looked at” for other crimes.

The address was the third that marshals had checked in their search for the suspect, whose identity they released to the public Thursday morning.
