CLEVELAND – The Greater Cleveland RTA is investigating a video posted to YouTube Sunday that shows a bus driving the wrong way on a street, and then cutting across two lanes of traffic to pick up a rider.

The video was shot on a bicyclist’s helmet cam on Friday, Sept. 26 at about 6 p.m near the West Park Rapid Station off Lorain Avenue.

The cyclist emailed Newschannel5 on Monday and declined to be interviewed for the story, but did issue a statement.

It reads, “I posted this so that we could determine what it was that made her not only go through the red light, but also to subsequently head down busy Lorain Rd. the wrong way. Then to make matters even more dramatic she caddy-corners her bus at the next stop blocking the right of way (green light) for the truck traveling next to me; very dangerous indeed.”

The cyclist rides up to the door of the bus and confronts the driver in the video.

Passengers who use the RTA said they agreed with the bicyclist confronting the bus driver. “I feel like he did the right thing,” said Josh Ortiz. “[The driver] could have caused a major accident,” he continued.

“He so had a right too. I would have done the same thing,” said Selena Diaz.

The RTA is “deeply concerned” about the video, a spokesperson told newsnet5.com, and will be taking appropriate action against the driver.
