If you were wondering whether or not Aretha Franklin was ready for a comeback, she’s here to solidify it.

After dropping a stellar cover of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep,” the legendary songstress has now taken over the sounds of Gloria Gaynor’s classic anthem, “I Will Survive“. Not only does the powerhouse vocalist give her take on Gaynor’s single, she mixes it with a classic from another set of divas: Destiny’s Child. Taking on their 2001 hit “Survivor,” over a deep bass driven beat change, Aretha belts out with the same amount of power she let rang through our speakers many decades ago.

“Just before I knew I would record “I Will Survive,” I brought Gloria Gaynor’s book ‘We Will Survive’ and enjoyed the inspiring stories from the various sections. “I Will Survive” is a great song and one of the terrific party songs of an era. I had a ball doing it!,” Aretha told Stereogum. “It also spans generations as it’s my granddaughter Victorie and my favorite song! We’re survivors for sure. Love it!!!”

Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics is set to hit stores on October 21, which includes remakes of songs by Alicia Keys, Barbra Streisand, Etta James, Chaka Khan and more. Until then, take a listen to the new mashup below!
