SANDUSKY – A semi-trailer truck driver took police on an hour and a half long chase just before 7 p.m. Sunday. Sandusky police contacted State Troopers and told them they were chasing a 2008 blue Kenworth Semi Truck.

According to reports, 61-year-old Ronald D. Weaver was caught stealing items from a Dollar General store. When officers confronted him, he fled to his truck and took off.

The chase went through several different counties including Erie, Ottawa, Lucas, and Wood Counties. Stop sticks were placed on the road multiple times throughout the chase. The truck eventually drove off the roadway on I-75 near milepost 187 in Wood County.

Weaver who is from Sneedville, Tennessee was arrested and booked into Wood County jail on charges of felony fleeing and Eluding.  Erie County Sheriff tells Newschannel5 that more charges will come from Sandusky police.
