Even though everyone couldn’t come back for the reunion, Brat was still thrilled to recapture that moment. There tons of women from the music scene in the video—like Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige—in the video, even if they weren’t supplying any vocals.

“That’s one of my favorite songs, and it was an honor to work with all of those ladies because it was a great vibe for all the females,” Da Brat said. “They just came to support. Wasn’t nobody getting paid. It was just all love.”

It’s a much more competitive scene for women in music these days, and the major rivalry that people play up is Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea. Da Brat wasn’t going to be pressed to choose sides. “I like Nicki and I like Iggy,” she said.

Some might blast Iggy’s style, but Brat doesn’t have a problem with it; that might be because so many people think they sound alike.

“People tell me, Iggy sounds a lot like me. I don’t hear it,” Da Brat told Rickey and his team. “I’m not really worried about it. I take it as a compliment. If you’re mimicking my style—or sound like me in any way—you’re just letting people know you love Brat.”

Before she left, Rickey also wanted to get Brat’s thoughts on Lifetime’s upcoming Aaliyah biopic, which is set to debut November 15. The rapper said that she would be tuning in, but she was disappointed by how the production has gone down.

“I’ve been hearing different things, but what kind of upset me a little bit is that they didn’t talk to her family,” said Brat. “If she were still living, I think she would be an amazing actress. She would definitely have awards and accolades for being an actress.”

Even though biopic producer Wendy has been pretty judgmental of Brat, the rapper showed how mature she’s become by deciding that she would overlook the shade…after firing back with her own shot.

“Like her a*s ain’t never made no mistakes, but we ain’t going to talk about that,” Brat said before admitting that she will be tuning in to support. “I think it’s going to be good. I’m hoping it’s going to be good and that they portray Aaliyah in a great light. And I’m kind of rooting for Wendy to do well, too, on this production.”
