Need to upgrade your winter wardrobe? Check out these tips for money saving shopping. 1. Hit The Big Stores First

Tiny boutiques are awesome for browsing, but if you’re looking for the best sales, hit the major chain stores first. They have more merchandise to get rid of and more turnover, so their sales are better.

2. Check The Back Room

Found the perfect piece but it’s sold out in your size? Don’t fret! Ask the sales person to check the inventory at other stores. Shipping is often complimentary, especially if you go through the store instead of heading online right away.

3. Know The Returns Policy Before You Buy

Chain stores are usually lenient, but many boutiques don’t allow you to return sale items. If that’s the case, carefully consider the purchase after double-checking the stitching in the seams and looking for any little stains.

4. Keep Your Receipts

If an item is reduced again, some retailers will give you a price adjustment. But it typically has to be within a certain time frame (like 30 days), so don’t try to pull this request if you purchased something in the spring, and now it’s fall.

5. Use The Tailor

If a sale-priced item you love is a size too big, do a little math before buying. Would it be worth it to pay for a tailor? If the total cost still saves you money, consider purchasing it because a tailored piece will look even better than the other standard cut.
