No, really. Really.

Look for a battle between Marshall Mathers, Shawn Carter and Stefani Germanotta at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards when those gleaming gramophone trophies are handed out. Who, you ask? You know them better as Eminem, Jay-Z and Lady Gaga, respectively. Eminem is leading with 10 nominations, while Jay-Z and Lady Gaga earned six. Perhaps most surprising is newcomer Bruno Mars’ seven noms, in artist and producer categories. There are plenty of other artistic wars to be waged and, as always, some head-scratching omissions. We break down the contests in 10 main categories for you:

Record of the Year

“Nothin’ on You,” B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars

“Love the Way You Lie,” Eminem featuring Rihanna

“F— You,” Cee-Lo Green

“Empire State of Mind,” Jay-Z and Alicia Keys

“Need You Now,” Lady Antebellum

The big surprise is the songs that aren’t here: Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” Sade’s “Soldier of Love” or Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are,” none of which made the cut in an extremely competitive year for pop. If we could pick only one of the nominated songs to listen to on a continuous loop, we’d pick “F— You.” It features the best pop/soul melody in years, but we’re not sure Grammy voters are ready to declare a profanity-laced song the winner. Even with all of Nashville behind “Need You Now,” it’s likely not enough for Lady Antebellum to win, and “Empire State of Mind” feels like it’s too old, unless all the New Yorkers block vote.

Should win: “F— You”

Will win: “Love the Way You Lie”
