A love child of the late James Brown is claiming that her father’s remains have gone missing.

“My daddy’s body has disappeared. I have no clue where it was taken, but I need to know where,” said LaRhonda Pettit in an interview with Britain’s Daily Mirror.

The soul legend’s body was put in a crypt after his death on Christmas Day in 2006. Since then, it has been kept at his daughter Deanna’s house in South Carolina while a public mausoleum was being prepared. Pettit now claims the body is nowhere to be found.

Brown died on Christmas Day 2006 in Atlanta of congestive heart failure and pneumonia. However, Pettit has always been skeptical of her father’s death.

“I’m convinced his death was suspicious, and I want the people responsible brought to justice,” she said. “The only way to do that is to exhume his body and have an autopsy. I cannot understand why one was never conducted.”

Pettit is one of several people to come forward after Brown’s death claiming to be his love child. She took a DNA test in 2007 which found he is 99.9% likely to be her father.

She was not named as a beneficiary in his will.
