MAYFIELD, Ohio — A 17-year-old Mayfield Heights High School student was charged with attempted murder Monday in connection with a stabbing at the school.

Investigators said he stabbed another student in the neck with an X-acto knife Friday in the school’s lunch room.

The victim, who is 18, was taken to Hillcrest Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

Police arrested the suspect outside the building and took him to the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, where he remains.

Investigators said the two students had argued for some time.
