AKRON, Ohio – Tiger Woods will return to Akron next week to play in the Bridgestone Invitational, he announced via Twitter on Thursday.

“Feeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!” Woods posted on his verified Twitter account, @TigerWoods , around 7:30 p.m. The tournament runs Aug. 3 to 7 at the Firestone Country Club in Akron.

Woods, who has been dealing with injuries to his left knee and left Achilles tendon, said he wouldn’t return to golf until he is 100 percent ready. He suffered the injuries during the third round of the Masters back in April.

Don Padgett, the Executive Director of the Bridgestone Invitational, the deadline is Friday at 5 p.m. to commit to the tournament.

“We haven’t really heard much. He has not officially committed yet, but obviously he has got a lot of great memories here at Firestone. He won here seven times,” Padgett told NewsChannel5 earlier in the week. Last year, Hunter Mahan won the tournament.
